The Damned World

Fairytale never exists..

"we thought the Earth was ours but we were wrong"

Well i think the making of science fiction movies have a level of difficulty there because it is hard to capture the audiences' imagination on something they may never seen in actual life at all but The Day The Earth Stood Still certainly is able to get you to buy into it.

Allow me to give you a short introduction to this movie but if you already roughly have the idea, you can skip the next few paragraphs in blue. Don't worry, it contain no spoilers.

This science fiction film is the kind where Earth and Humans receive extraterrestrial visitors. But if you thought that "extraterrestrial visitors" are as in aliens and predators that kind, you don't have to worry at all as there are no such gross mutants appearance. It is more Star Trek.

This movie is a remake of the 1951 version and the screenplay is needless to say more techy.

Klaatu(Keanu Reeves) descended on Earth to evaluate Humans if they are worthy to walk the Earth as the Earth had turned into a weaker state compared to the times Humans weren't around.

The main portion of the movie is to show how Klaatu gets convinced that Human still has hope in changing and that they aren't heartless and cold blooded as he thought.

The message to send across was that Humans had been abusing mother nature.

For me, the story's plot was very simple. Very easy to understand, not "on the edge of your seat" exciting. Keanu Reeves still looks cool in the movie and it is hard to concentrate on other details when he is in the picture. Overall it deserved 7 out of 10 points.
